NCF Offers Condolences Following the Tragedy at CFB Wainwright
Toronto, October 18, 2026
North Bridge Civic Federation (NCF) and its member organizations across Canada are deeply saddened by the deaths of four Canadian Armed Forces members in a fire-related training incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta, on October 17. Thirty-nine other Canadian Armed Forces members were injured.
We honour the memory of Sergeant Morgan Wong of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, who was serving with 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, as well as Private Shaun Farrell, Private Aidan Goulding and Private Hayden Lykkemark of 3 PPCLI.
They chose to serve their country and lost their lives while preparing to protect it. Canada owes them and their families a debt that cannot be repaid.
To the families, friends and comrades of the fallen, we extend our heartfelt condolences. No words can ease a loss like this, but please know that communities of every culture and faith across Canada stand with you in your grief.
We pray for the full recovery of everyone who was injured, and we keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts. We also thank the soldiers, medical personnel and first responders who responded to the emergency and assisted those affected.
This tragedy reminds us of the dedication and sacrifice of the women and men of the Canadian Armed Forces in times of peace as well as conflict. We stand in solidarity with Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, the CFB Wainwright community and the entire Canadian military family.
May the fallen rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in the days ahead.
